Almost 60% of voters in Idaho chose to repeal Prohibition when it came to a vote on September 19, 1933. That vote was later ratified on October 17th. The story serves to illustrate in a small way what Prohibition era Idaho was like.

  • An article ran in 1929 about a federal officer who was threatened right before testifying in court. Apparently right before the witness took the stand, a man stared at witness with his hand clamped over over his mouth, meaning “Keep your mouth shut or die.”
